Maywood was incorporated as a borough on June 29, 1894, during a period known as “Boroughitis,” when many boroughs were formed throughout New Jersey. Forty new boroughs were formed in 1894 and 1895, with the bulk in Bergen County, where most townships were broken up or significantly reduced.

Child Custody

Child custody orders dictate when a parent will have time with their children. Our Maywood family law attorneys can help you petition for custody or visitation.

Child Support

New Jersey’s child support laws utilize a fixed formula outlined in the New Jersey Child Support Guidelines to calculate an appropriate amount of support, based on factors such as the number of children to be supported and each parent’s income. Our Maywood family law lawyers can help obtain financial information so that an accurate amount of support is ordered.

Judgment Modification

To change a family court order, you must seek an official judgment modification. Our skilled attorneys can evaluate your case and determine if you have grounds to file a case.

During a divorce, marital property is typically divided among spouses. This could include personal property (jewelry, vehicles), financial assets (bank accounts, cryptocurrency), and intellectual property (trademarks, vlogs).

How Do I Seek a Divorce in Maywood?

A divorce begins with filing a legal petition in the county court where you or your spouse resides — your petition can be filed in Bergen County if either spouse resides in Maywood, but check with our Bergen County family law attorneys to learn more.

New Jersey recognizes no-fault (separation, irreconcilable differences) and fault-based grounds (adultery, cruelty, etc). A lawyer can evaluate your case to help determine your divorce options and prepare the legal paperwork for you.

How Will My Property Be Divided in a Divorce in New Jersey?

Who Will Get Custody of Our Children After the Divorce?

If you and your spouse can work out a custody agreement, the family court will typically approve the plan. However, if you don’t agree, the court will make the determination based on what is in the child’s best interests
