Patricia Speake Martin has been practicing family law for thirty (30) years. She has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including mediation and collaborative law. Ms. Martin completed her initial mediation training with Sam Margulies in 1996 and her Collaborative law training with the first set of trainees of the North Jersey Collaborative Divorce Group.
Ms. Martin also has vast experience in the area of domestic violence. She received the Carol Dervitz Service to the Community Award in 2003 for her volunteer work representing indigent victims of domestic violence. She has provided pro bono representation for clients through the Bergen County Domestic Violence Legal Advocacy Project for almost 20 years. She also provides free legal representation as a volunteer attorney with Northeast New Jersey Legal Services on an as-needed basis.
Ms. Martin served as the Municipal Prosecutor of the Borough of Woodcliff Lake from 1995 through 2000 and was the Public Defender for that Borough in 1994. She is also a former Prosecutor for the Bergen Central Municipal Court and currently serves as the Alternate Prosecutor for the Pascack Valley Regional Municipal Court.
Ms. Martin services clients in the sale, refinance, or purchase of residential real estate. If a buyout by one spouse of another occurs in a divorce case, Ms. Martin can continue representation of the client through that process. Ms. Martin is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, Women Lawyers in Bergen County and the New Jersey State Bar Association (Family Section Division).
Ms. Martin raised three daughters and has one granddaughter. In her spare time, she volunteers with Family Promise of Bergen County, enjoys traveling, and teaches Sunday school at her church.
